Changing the way young Jewish leaders connect to Judaism and Israel

The Shalom Hartman Institute offers a growing suite of educational initiatives for young Jews between the ages of 15–25 as well as the professionals, educators, and institutions that serve them on college campuses, days schools, summer camps, congregational schools, and youth groups.

For background on the Institute’s commitment to building a pipeline of young Jewish leadership, read this essay by Yehuda Kurtzer.

For Professionals in Formal Education

The Shalom Hartman Institute is also committed to serving the needs of professionals in Jewish day schools – including heads of school and educators – who are working to offer values-based learning about Jewish identify, Israel, and peoplehood.

In 2020 the Institute launched a series of cohort leadership programs for day school leaders from the NY region who studied with Hartman faculty throughout the year to learn and discuss ways to apply the Institute’s values-based approach to their school community. The Institute also hosts conferences for day school educators, most recently a Jewish History Teachers Conference in May 2022 in partnership with Charles E. Smith Day School in Rockville, MD.

In partnership with the Jewish Education Project, Hartman is working to bring iEngage learning to senior educators leading synagogue-based Hebrew schools in a pilot program in 2022-2024.
